This has been an exciting and productive week here at Tree Of Life Organics!
I meet with the Mayor Brian Blad of the City of Pocatello to see how the city would receive our upcoming project for sustainability centers in the greater area. We discussed how Pocatello's image has seemingly dwindled over the past few years and how it could really benefit from something fresh and new. I explained how the future of our planted really relies on sustainable measures and they couldn't agree more! We all seem to be on the same page that something needs to be done to better the way we live and it needs to be done now.
I went over how Tree Of Life Organics will be building centers that combine all of the best ideas in the sustainable industry into local hubs. Our goal in Pocatello is to create our "headquarters" for our effort and to make our city one of the front runners in the country for sustainable measures. Our hubs consist of Aquaponics, vertical farming, industry leading solar and wind tech, livestock feed production, rainwater collection, water filtration, bee habitat preserves, education programs, geothermal utilization, vermiculture (worms), composting and year round production. Seems like a lot but its all very neatly packaged into tidy systems that are nearly fully automated.
All of this is complemented by only using 5-1% of the water used in traditional farming. Being a local production facility we are carbon neutral as we deliver food straight tot he community, along with many other items like power, water and livestock feed. Producing our own energy and even giving a significant amount back to the power grid we are helping reduce carbon emissions nationally. The 1/3 of the worlds carbon emissions from food production and distribution.
Overall what we're doing here is a game changer and now the City has recognized us. We will be working with the City Council and the Idaho Organization of Resource Councils in the coming months to implement sustainability measures into the cities comprehensive plan and provide incentives for sustainable business in the area.
Together we're going to put Pocatello on the map again and boost sustainable living in Idaho.
Stay tuned, because Tree Of Life Organics doesn't plan to stop there. We'll be letting you know more about our national agenda in the coming weeks. =)
